Skype on Sunday (and Saturday and...)
I'm having trouble with my blog...every post I wrote yesterday got deleted (eaten?) by the next post. So of the 4 (I think) I wrote and published yesterday, only one is there - the last one written. I've contacted Blogger Support, but I'm a bit wary of publishing till I know the problem is fixed.Kinda lazy Sunday today...well, Skype-ing Sunday. Spoke with Uncle Matthew and Uncle Al on Skype. Not the clearest line with Al, but Lily loves to see people on the webcam which unfortunately makes the sound not so good. Later I rang Georgie (in Australia) and had a good catch-up. And even later in the afternoon Christine rang from Cambridge. They're also going away the same days as us (Tues-Sat) next week but they're off to Malaga. The crazy thing is the orders are coming in...for next week. Thankfully I can fit them in around our trip (2 people were pretty flexible on when they wanted to pick up) and the third is for a b'day party next Sunday (she's yet to confirm her order). So tomorrow morning I have a muffin pick up (Blueberry Buttermilk and Little Pear and Cinammon Cakes) and in the afternoon I have cookies and brownies pick up. I'll do my cookie drop off to David on Tuesday morning, then we fly to Rome in the afternoon.Tonight for dinner I made Roasted vegetable tart (Super Food Ideas, Sept 2005) which was very nice. In the afternoon the girls and I made bread rolls (with grains and seeds) from the kids baking book I got for Lily for Xmas which turned out pretty good. So we had those with dinner, plus a mixed salad with feta and olives. Nice dinner really...well, as good as we get at the moment. Looking forward to the day we can sit down and enjoy a proper meal, without a million requests for more drinks, different fork, wiping bottoms after ca-ca, removing toys from the table, asking kids if they are eating their meals etc etc etc.On the Charlotte Sleep-o-Meter: She woke at 2.39am and I was up and down to her until 4am. When a dose of Medised* put a stop to the whole shenanigans. Unfortunately her nose is running at the moment and it really disrupts her sleep. Which was confirmed by how effective the Medised was. I was reluctant to give it to her only because there is a tiny bit left in the bottle and I wanted to save it. I won't be able to get anymore till we go to the UK at the end of March.
*Christine left us this bottle when they were here at Xmas. Seems really effective so I'm going to the pharmacy downstairs tomorrow and asking if they have anything similar.
**edited to add: when I published this post it deleted (ate) my one and only post from yesterday. Arrrggggggghhhhh. So I will not be posting again till this issue is fixed :(
Up to speed
I think yesterday was too much, too soon. It was great seeing Christine and Aussie Jen, but my ear was not good and still felt stuffed. And I didn't feel great. But the food was yummy, and the company good. They left just before noon, then MK and I cleaned up...with some help from the girls. In the afternoon I took Lily to Nadine's 6th b'day party (we walked, it was that close...a benefit of going to a 'neighbourhood' school). She was asking beforehand how to ask for a drink in French. I came up with something. I dropped her off around 3pm (the invitation was for 2.30pm but C didn't wake till just before 3pm) and picked her up just before 5.30pm (oops, I misread the invitation - I thought it said 5.30pm, not 5pm). Anyway, when I got there she asked Nadine's mummy where her balloon was - in French! And the mummy said Lily spoke and understood French well. Now I've heard it with my own ears.Charlotte and I went to Coop after we dropped Lily off. She is so cute...picked up her own shopping basket, put her raggy and toy in there, then once everything was settled in the basket said 'voila'. The fish lady was delighted with her. This morning my ear still felt stuffed and I couldn't hear well. I was on the brink of calling Dr B back, but I had to finish off the baking order. MK had just finished the lettering on the cupcakes when the woman arrived. We chatted while I put the finishing touches (star sprinkles). By the time she left my ear was a bit better. And when I blow my nose now there is a lot of noise - crackling - in my right ear. Hope that means it's clearing up.The night before last's (Tuesday) Charlotte Sleep-o-Meter was bad: I was up with her briefly at 3.37am and 3.54am, then MK got up with her at 4.30am (she woke when Lily woke up crying, Lily went back to sleep, Charlotte didn't). So MK took her out onto the couch, and didn't get back to bed till 6am. By then Charlotte was asking for cereal so I got up (I went back to bed later) and got her cereal.Last night's Sleep-o-Meter: Charlotte slept all night.
Must be better
Christine C rang just after 8pm tonight asking if there was a PM coffee morning tomorrow. She is too late for January and too early for February so that would be a No then. Instead I invited her round here. She's up for that, say 10am. I also rang Kelly deV (can't make it, Chloe's sick), Aussie Jen (can make it) and Lucinda (not home, left a message with Alex). Then I made Black-Bottom Cupcakes and Rosemary-Olive Oil Bread (still in the oven)...two recipes I've wanted to try and just been waiting for a reason.Lily will be happy when she finds out tomorrow morning that Katia will be coming over. Although she'd much rather be visiting her place...she has this thing that she always wants to go visit people. Doesn't quite 'get' the fact we have to be invited first.
