The French (language) Connection
I've thought for a while that, given the chance, Charlotte would pick up French easier/quicker than Lily. Nothing specific, just says the odd French word (when we're out she'll often call me Maman, and she babbles in French sometimes including practising rolling her r's) and seems open to the language.
But I've just worked out why Charlotte will find French easier (in my opinion). Charlotte copies words she hears. In a way Lily didn't. And the sh*t word is the most obvious example. So if she picks up and uses swear words, then she'll do the same with French words.
Merde! It was staring me in the face the whole time.

You should look into bilingual playgroups/kinders/schools when you're back in Oz for the girls, I see ads for them now and then, would be good for the girls to keep their skills up.Pity I can't find a Finnish one for Keely.
That's what I'm hoping Ange...would be a shame for all this blood sweat and tears to go to waste.
It shouldn't though Robyn! J lived in France for a year when he was 5. He went to a French maternelle for that year.
When we came back 10 years ago within weeks he was speaking like a native with a very good accent (unlike little old Moi LOL)
You don't do too bad, Mel!!
