Charlotte's heart
When Charlotte was four months old a routine check detected a problem with her heart (through the stethoscope). We were sent off to the pediatric cardiologist who diagnosed a small hole in the ?valve, called VSD. He predicted it would likely heal on it's own and it wasn't a big problem (quite common). The only thing we needed to do was be aware that if she was to have an operation for anything she would need antibiotics. And to bring her back at 1 year old.
We went to the follow-up appointment with the cardiologist today, only 10 months late (!). He had a look and showed us the hole and where it is closing up. Apparently she doesn't need to be checked again until she is five. He said she has no limitations and we are to treat her no differently (don't anyway). And reminded us about the antibiotics before an operation thing.
All four of us were there and when we were leaving the dr asked 'who's the Chief? is she (pointing to Charlotte) the Chief?' and I said yes. He told us to watch that and be careful. It's not a good thing. Funny advice from a heart doctor, but good advice too I reckon. I can see we bend more with Charlotte and it can't be good for any of us.
